Welcome to Ubuntu Leadership Academy
Welcome to the Ubuntu Leadership Academy at Genesis Youth Foundation—a transformative program designed to empower youth from preschool through college with leadership skills, cultural pride, and academic excellence. Our mission is to nurture immigrant and refugee youth into confident leaders who excel in their communities and beyond.
Program Calendar
Our History: Building Foundations in Academic and Enrichment Programs
Our Academic and Enrichment Program began as an extension of the Genesis Football Club, which was founded in 2009. Initially focused on engaging high school boys through soccer, the organization quickly recognized the need to involve younger children and girls in its programs. This realization led to the creation of the Voices In Praise African Children Gospel Choir, a performing arts initiative offering singing and praise dancing to engage and empower girls and younger children
As the organization grew, it became evident that many boys and girls participating in both soccer and performing arts programs were struggling academically. To address this critical need, Genesis Youth Foundation incorporated tutoring services and regular grade monitoring to provide comprehensive academic support. This holistic approach ensured that students not only thrived in extracurricular activities but also excelled in their educational journeys.
This commitment to academic success and enrichment laid the foundation for the development of the Ubuntu Leadership Academy, integrating leadership, cultural pride, and educational support to empower immigrant and refugee youth

literacy courses. Team sports and community service projects encourage collaboration, cultural
pride, and a sense of responsibility. This program lays the foundation for high school success and
future leadership roles.
Our academic year is thoughtfully structured to align with the traditional school calendar,
ensuring that students receive consistent support throughout the year.
Fall Semester: Begins in August and runs through December, ending with our End-of-Year
Celebration to honor program participants’ achievements.
Winter Break: The program closes for winter break in late December, allowing families to
celebrate the holidays and rest.
Spring Semester: Resumes in January after the New Year and continues through May. We
observe Spring Break in alignment with local school districts.
End-of-Year Celebration: In May, we host a festive celebration to recognize the hard work and
accomplishments of our students, families, and staff.
Academic Camps: Throughout the year, we offer multiple academic camps designed to provide
targeted learning opportunities. These include:
